Fiji Police Urged to Stay Mission-Focused During Festive Season

Fiji Police Urged to Stay Focused Ahead of Festive Season

The Minister for Policing, Ioane Naivalurua, has urged police officers to maintain their focus and vigilance as the festive season approaches. Speaking during a Thanksgiving Church Service at the Centenary Church in Suva, Naivalurua highlighted the importance of being mission-focused and results-oriented during this busy time of year.

During his address, he reminded officers to prioritize their responsibilities, stating, “We must keep the main thing, the main thing. We cannot lose sight of the task at hand.” With the festive spirit in full swing, Naivalurua emphasized the need for communities and families to enjoy this season freely while police officers enhance their presence on the frontlines.

Acknowledge the officers’ commitment throughout the year, he urged them to persevere through any challenges. “These are testing times, but we must continue to perform our duties and never waver,” he remarked.

In addition, he stressed the importance of addressing social issues, particularly those affecting women and girls, encouraging officers to confront such matters directly. “We need to take these matters head-on; we are a resilient organization,” he stated.

Naivalurua concluded his speech by wishing all officers a safe Christmas and a prosperous New Year. The Thanksgiving service served as a valuable opportunity for police personnel to reflect on their achievements over the past year and renew their commitment to safeguarding the community while reinforcing their faith in a supportive environment of gratitude.

This proactive call to action as officers prepare for the holiday season not only ensures public safety but also fosters a nurturing sense of community spirit, reaffirming the essential role the police play in enhancing security during this festive time.
