Recent statistics released by the Fiji Police Force indicate an impressive 18 percent drop in complaints against police officers from August to October this year, with 230 cases recorded compared to 283 during the same period last year. Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu shared this encouraging news at a recent press conference, highlighting a positive trend in the force’s management of complaints while acknowledging that there is still room for improvement.
The majority of the complaints, totaling 116, were related to officer conduct, with an additional 84 cases concerning neglect of duty. Commissioner Tudravu attributed the decline in complaints to the police force’s commitment to enforcing discipline among its ranks.
“The reduction is also reflective of the tough approach taken in addressing issues of ill-discipline,” Tudravu emphasized, underlining the crucial nature of reliable and professional service delivery.
