Police in Savusavu are actively pursuing several suspects involved in a violent incident that took place in Vusasivo Village, Cakaudrove, where government officials were assaulted. The altercation occurred when the driver of a government vehicle swerved to avoid hitting a man who was reportedly intoxicated and erratically staggering onto the roadway. As the vehicle veered off course, a group of intoxicated youths approached and attacked the driver and passengers, stealing personal belongings in the process.
All six victims were transported to Tukavesi Hospital for medical treatment, two of whom were later transferred to Labasa Hospital for additional care. Currently, one victim is in stable condition while the other has been discharged.
