Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced plans to file an appeal following a recent court ruling regarding the dismissal of the former Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.

In a statement released today, Rabuka acknowledged the court’s decision to permit a judicial review examining the validity of the Commission of Inquiry. He emphasized that the government would initiate the appropriate legal steps in response to this ruling.

Rabuka expressed his encouragement by the court proceedings, which he believes reinforce the strength of democracy in Fiji. He noted that the separation of powers continues to be respected, illustrating that there is no undue influence from the Executive over Judicial matters.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of upholding the rule of law, reiterating the government’s commitment to maintaining constitutional order and respecting the independence of public institutions. This approach reflects a broader commitment to democratic principles and the integrity of governance in Fiji, providing hope for a transparent legal process that protects individual rights and public interests.
