Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced a significant Cabinet reshuffle as the Coalition Government prepares to mark the end of its third year in office, with the new changes set to take effect on January 19, 2026. The Prime Minister emphasized that the adjustments to ministerial portfolios are intended to enhance governance as the government gears up for its fourth year.

In this reshuffle, several key appointments have been made. Sakiasi Ditoka will take on the role of Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, bringing fresh perspectives to the nation’s international engagements. Mosese Bulitavu has been appointed Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, reflecting an increased focus on rural issues and disaster readiness. Lynda Tabuya will now serve as Minister for Information, Environment and Climate Change, highlighting the government’s commitment to environmental protection and transparency.

Further changes include Charan Jeath Singh, who has been tasked with overseeing Public Enterprises, Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts. Ifereimi Vasu will handle iTaukei Affairs, which encompasses culture, heritage, and arts, while Tomasi Tunabuna steps in as the Minister for Agriculture and the Sugar Industry, a critical sector for the nation’s economy.

The Prime Minister will maintain responsibility for Civil Service and Strategic Planning, alongside National Development and Statistics. The reshuffle also involves a structural change: the office accommodation and housing unit will be transferred to the Ministry of Public Works, with the Ministry of Civil Service continuing to guide overarching government policy on housing matters.

Additionally, Sachida Nand has been reassigned as Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Commerce and Business Development.

Prime Minister Rabuka expressed that these changes are timely and crucial for the government’s continued delivery on its promises to the people, reaffirming the leadership’s dedication to serving the nation effectively.
