The Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection has established a partnership with Habitat for Humanity Fiji to build a Child Wellbeing Centre dedicated to aiding vulnerable children, including those living on the streets, throughout all four divisions of the country.

This collaboration was formalized yesterday with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement, marking a crucial advancement in enhancing child protection services nationwide. The initiative supports the Ministry’s obligations under both the Child Care and Protection Act 2024 and the Child Justice Act 2024.

The planned centre is designed to offer a safe, nurturing, and rehabilitative space for children in need of care and protection. It aims to serve as a hub for coordinated services, providing access to social support, psychosocial care, referral mechanisms, and reintegration programs, which are all intended to help children reintegrate into stable living conditions.

This partnership underscores both organizations’ commitment to improving the lives of at-risk children while strengthening the national child protection framework through effective and sustainable solutions. By coming together, the Ministry and Habitat for Humanity Fiji hope to make a significant and positive impact on the wellbeing of vulnerable youth across the nation.
