Netball Fiji is making significant strides in its high-performance initiative as it prepares for the competitive landscape of 2026. The organization is set to host a combined pre-season training camp for the Fiji Pearls and the national men’s netball team on the upcoming Friday and Saturday. This event marks an important stepping stone for both national squads as they gear up for an intense international calendar later this year.
The two-day camp is designed for players and coaching staff to concentrate on conditioning, technical skills, and tactical development. This comprehensive program aims to generate momentum leading into the major competitions scheduled within the year. For the Fiji Pearls, the camp serves as a critical foundation for a busy second half of the year, which includes a local tournament and three overseas competitions from July to October. These events are vital for the Pearls as they strive to enhance their international ranking and consistently perform at the highest caliber.
On the other hand, the men’s team is channeling its efforts toward the May Invitational Series, where they will face international teams. This tournament is recognized as a vital opportunity for the men’s squad, facilitating much-needed match exposure and building off recent positive performances in the sport.
Netball Fiji emphasizes that this combined training camp is a strategic move to unify the high-performance pathways for both men’s and women’s teams. By fostering shared learning environments, the organization aims to bolster both physical and mental preparedness across its programs. This collaboration signifies a progressive approach towards excellence in performance as both teams prepare for their impending challenges.
After the camp concludes, athletes will transition into specialized training programs tailored to the unique demands of their respective competitions. Netball Fiji hopes that these initiatives will pave the way for a breakthrough year on the international stage in 2026, promoting the growth and success of netball in Fiji.
