The 2025 Fiji Men’s and Mixed Netball competition showcased an impressive display of talent and competitiveness at the National Netball Centre in Laucala over the weekend. Myron Williams, the president of the association, noted that the level of competition was unparalleled, reflecting a significant increase in intensity and skill across the board.

Williams highlighted the unique nature of men’s and mixed netball, describing it as a more physical and demanding variant compared to traditional women’s netball. He stated, “This year’s competition marked a clear shift in the competitive landscape of the sport. The intensity lifted, the skills sharpened, and the competition tightened across all five grades.” He drew a comparison to rugby, emphasizing the toughness involved in men’s netball, differentiating it from the style of play typically observed in women’s games.

The event not only spotlighted various teams for their remarkable performances but also served as a crucial platform for raising HIV awareness. Williams expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services HIV Unit for their partnership in promoting education and testing through sport.

In terms of the outcomes, the Lautoka Maroons showcased their expertise by claiming victory in the Masters (40+) grade, defeating the Tailevu Doves with a score of 28-15. The Open Mix category witnessed Nasinu overpowering the Suva Swifts 37-25, while the under-19 Men’s grade ended in a nail-biting finish with Nadi narrowly defeating defending champions Suva 31-30.
