Former Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL) assistant chair Rajesh Singh has been removed from the board following a decision by the newly elected chairman, Apenisa Dansey. The termination letter, which Singh reportedly declined to sign, indicates his dismissal was a result of non-compliance with governance requirements.

The controversy dates back to Singh’s appointment to the FNRL Board during the 2024 Annual General Meeting, where he was obligated to resign from any position with the NRL Bid to prevent a conflict of interest. However, he did not provide the required resignation letter. Additionally, it was confirmed that the NRL Bid was still registered in his name, representing a clear breach of compliance and governance protocols.

In light of these findings, Chairman Dansey stated that the decision to terminate Singh was taken to protect the integrity of the Fiji National Rugby League. Attempts by FBC Sports to obtain comments from Singh regarding his dismissal were unsuccessful.

This development reflects a commitment to uphold governance standards within the FNRL, reinforcing the importance of transparency and accountability in sports organizations. It highlights the need for board members to adhere to established protocols, ensuring the league’s healthy functioning and future growth.
