The couple, hailing from different regions of Fiji—Oliver from Wainunu, Bua with maternal roots in Mokani, Tailevu, and Bernadette from Vunavutu Village in Nadroga with ties to Pepjei and Scotland—first crossed paths in 2019 at the Ebenezer Tabernacle Church in Nakasi.
Their connection blossomed as they supported each other through the challenging experiences of grief and distance. Both faced the loss of loved ones, with Oliver losing his older brother in 2021 and Bernadette losing her mother that same year.
