Fiji-Japan Partnership Gains Momentum as Ambassador Michii Bids Farewell

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has conveyed the Fijian Government’s sincere gratitude for the contributions of Rokuichiro Michii, Japan’s outgoing Ambassador to Fiji, during a farewell meeting in Suva yesterday. Rabuka praised Michii for his exceptional leadership and efforts to enhance the partnership between the two countries.

The Prime Minister pointed out that Michii’s time in office not only reinforced bilateral relations but also laid a robust foundation for ongoing cooperation between Fiji and Japan. Reflecting on his recent official visit to Japan, Rabuka highlighted the warm hospitality he and his delegation received, which he believes has strengthened the longstanding friendship between the two nations.

Rabuka acknowledged Japan’s ongoing support for Fiji, emphasizing collaboration in essential areas such as climate resilience, infrastructure development, and disaster preparedness, attributing much of the progress to Ambassador Michii’s commitment.

In his farewell address, Ambassador Michii expressed appreciation for the kindness and support extended to him by the Fijian Government and its people during his tenure.
