The Fijian government has announced that Dr. Peggy Ravusiro, the newly crowned Miss Fiji 2025, will represent the nation at the upcoming Miss Pacific Island Pageant 2026. This decision follows a Cabinet meeting which approved a significant funding package of $198,000 to support both the Miss Fiji Pageant and the Miss Pacific Island Pageant.
Acting Prime Minister Filimoni Vosarogo stated that the Cabinet’s agreement aligns with a Service Agreement signed on December 3, 2025, emphasizing the importance of adhering to this decision. “It needs to be understood that when Cabinet makes a decision on a matter, the expectation that such decision will be respected must follow,” said Mr. Vosarogo, ensuring that all processes and arrangements reflect this directive.
The Acting Prime Minister acknowledged the necessity of government oversight due to the involvement of public funds. He reinforced that the decision made is crucial, as it not only represents the government’s stance but also aims to maintain public confidence in the administration of these funds.
Fiji is set to host the Miss Pacific Island Pageant in 2026, marking a return to the event seven years after last hosting it. The government is optimistic about the upcoming pageant, with Mr. Vosarogo expressing enthusiasm about welcoming participants from across the Pacific region. “The nation looks forward to hosting the Miss Pacific Island Pageant in 2026 and welcoming our Pacific sisters to Fiji once again,” he remarked, highlighting a positive sentiment around the event.
This announcement not only underscores the significance of beauty pageants cultural, social, and economic aspects in the Pacific region but also showcases Fiji’s commitment to fostering regional ties and promoting its hospitality on an international stage.
