Fiji’s National Futsal Head Coach, Jose Gerardo, has commended the commitment of coaches from the Northern Division following a successful three-day Futsal Coaching Course conducted at the Fiji FA Academy in Labasa last weekend. This initiative welcomed 15 coaches from regions including Dreketi, Bua, Udu, Savusavu, and Labasa, reflecting Fiji FA’s ongoing efforts to elevate futsal at the grassroots level.

Gerardo highlighted the impressive enthusiasm displayed by the participants and their dedication to advancing futsal within their local communities. He specifically noted the inspiring involvement of a female coach from Udu Point, who juggles her coaching responsibilities with a teaching position, underlining the critical role educators play in nurturing young talent in the sport.

The course was designed to enhance the coaches’ understanding of futsal fundamentals, coaching methodologies, and key game concepts. Gerardo is confident that this training will significantly raise the skill level of futsal in the Northern Division. He also announced that the next course is set to take place in the Western Division, with Ba hosting another three-day session from Wednesday to Friday this week.

The enthusiastic participation of these coaches provides a hopeful outlook for the future of futsal in Fiji, signaling a vibrant and growing engagement with the sport at the community level.
