A trough of low pressure located to the northeast of Fiji is projected to move southward, leading to increased cloudiness and rain in the northern and eastern parts of the country starting tomorrow, according to weather experts.

The Fiji Meteorological Service has shared its latest forecast, which is valid until midnight. It predicts periods of cloudiness and brief showers across various regions, including Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Naitasiri-Tailevu North, Ra-Rakiraki, Cakaudrove, southern Bua province, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Kadavu and its surroundings, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

In other areas of the Fiji Group, the weather is expected to be mostly clear, though residents might experience isolated showers in the afternoon and evening.

However, meteorologists have cautioned that thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are likely in the afternoons or evenings over both Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. The risk of localized heavy downpours raises alarms about potential flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas that are vulnerable to such events.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant and stay informed through regular weather updates as conditions may change. Being prepared and staying alert during this period of fluctuating weather is essential for everyone’s safety. With the right precautions, communities can navigate these weather challenges effectively.
