A flood warning is currently in effect for various low-lying and flood-prone regions across the Western Division, as reported by the Fiji Meteorological Service. This advisory highlights that communities adjacent to the Nakauvadra River in Rakiraki Town, Naseani on the Yaqara River, and areas around the Nasivi River and Tavua Town Bridge, as well as the Navala River, Toge River in Ba, and the FSC Mill River in Ba, are particularly at risk of flooding.

The warning has been issued due to a persistent trough of low pressure that has been generating continuous cloud cover and rainfall affecting the Fiji Group. Recent data indicates that water levels in the Rakiraki, Tavua, and Ba river systems are on the rise, which significantly increases the threat of flooding in these areas.

Authorities are advising residents in the affected regions to stay alert, actively monitor river levels, and take necessary precautions as the heavy rainfall continues. It’s crucial for communities to be prepared and informed to safeguard their safety and wellbeing during this weather event.
