Suspended Acting Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Sevuloni Naucukidi is set to contest the admissibility of a voice recording linked to allegations of criminal intimidation involving an alleged victim he is accused of threatening. His defense attorney, Samuela Savu, made this announcement during a court session with Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne.

The prosecution, led by Senior State Prosecutor Sadaf Shameem, indicated that any admissibility concerns could be resolved during the trial, scheduled to commence on April 1 and last for two days. Naucukidi faces charges stemming from an incident in July 2025, where he allegedly threatened a member of his support staff.

As proceedings continue, the court has adjourned the matter until March 4. This upcoming session will determine whether a voir dire hearing will take place or if the admissibility issue will be handled during the trial itself. The unfolding events reflect the complexities of legal processes, emphasizing the importance of due process in addressing alleged misconduct within public service positions.
