The Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (FCEF) recently conducted a fruitful CEO’s Networking Event on February 27, drawing more than 90 executive leaders and business owners for an evening focused on building connections, sharing insights, and fostering collaboration. The event was graciously hosted by the British High Commissioner to Fiji, Kanbar Hossein-Bor, and aimed to serve as both a social gathering and a platform for significant discussions.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka attended as the chief guest, providing attendees with a unique chance for direct communication. In his speech, he acknowledged the challenging business environment, emphasizing the government’s commitment to policies aimed at improving the ease of doing business in Fiji. The Prime Minister advocated for ongoing dialogue between the government and private sector, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in overcoming current challenges.

This exchange allowed business leaders to voice their concerns directly, share insights relevant to their industries, and discuss how government support could facilitate growth. The government’s attentive listening during these informal discussions highlighted its recognition of the pressures faced by businesses today, confirming its continued backing for both the private sector and entities like FCEF.

FCEF plays a vital role as the national representative for employers and businesses, hosting various initiatives such as the CEO’s Networking, The State of the Economy: Breakfast Talanoa, and the TOPEX Conference. These gatherings enable business leaders to engage directly with decision-makers and are increasingly important as companies face the impact of rising input costs, regulatory changes, and global supply chain pressures.

In addition to policy discourse, the networking event also served to strengthen existing relationships and foster new connections across different industries. Establishing strong professional networks is essential for knowledge sharing, partnership identification, and collective responses to challenges.

The FCEF expressed gratitude to the British High Commissioner and his family for their support in hosting the event, demonstrating the robust relationship between Fiji’s business community and its international partners. Special thanks also went to Tappoo Group for their ongoing sponsorship.

Looking ahead, FCEF is dedicated to creating purposeful opportunities for engagement that will continue to support members in policy discussions, training needs, and regulatory challenges. The benefits of these initiatives extend beyond the membership, emphasizing FCEF’s commitment to fostering a thriving business environment in Fiji.
