The Fiji Bureau of Statistics (FBoS) has announced the appointment of Apisalome Tamani as the Acting Chief Executive, effective February 4, 2026. Mr. Tamani, who is currently serving as the Deputy Government Statistician (Technical), will fulfill the role until a permanent appointment is made.

This key position was previously held by Kemueli Naiqama, who has recently been appointed as Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan. This transition marks an important change within the organization, as FBoS continues its vital work in collecting and analyzing statistical data critical for national development.

Mr. Tamani’s extensive experience in statistics and government service positions him well to lead FBoS during this interim period. His leadership will be crucial as the bureau navigates ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality and accessibility of statistical information in Fiji.

This development reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that vital statistical services are maintained, which are essential for informed policy-making and economic planning. As Fiji looks to strengthen its statistical capabilities, Mr. Tamani’s appointment is expected to bring a renewed focus on the bureau’s objectives, ultimately contributing to the nation’s growth and development.
