A shadow national team called Fiji Blue is set to make its debut in the Rooster Grassroots Fiji 7s tournament, beginning today at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This event, organized by the Fiji Sports Council, sees Fiji Blue entering Pool A, where they will face off against teams like Dominion Brothers, Army Red, and Vuna Brothers.

Fiji Blue’s squad is composed of promising players from the national setup, highlighting local talent and their potential in the sport. The tournament features several pools, with Pool B including Army Green, Covenant Brothers, Lomaiviti, and Ravete Brothers. In Pool C, teams such as BLK Lavidi, Coral Coaster, Birdland Brothers, and Tubarua Highlanders will compete, while Pool D comprises FSC Grassroots Fiji, Vunimono, Vokainations, and Lomaiviti Highlanders.

Kick-off for the tournament is scheduled for 9 am at the HFC Bank Stadium, coinciding with volleyball matches happening at the nearby FMF Gymnasium. Fans can purchase grandstand tickets for both events at an affordable rate of $5 each. For those unable to attend in person, the Rugby 7s matches will be broadcast live on FBC 2, with international viewers having the option to stream the event through vitiplus for a fee of $20 FJD.
