Fiji and New Zealand are strengthening their partnership to tackle drug-related challenges and enhance community policing initiatives. In a recent meeting, New Zealand’s High Commissioner, Greg Andrews, and Fiji’s Minister for Policing and Communications, Ioane Naivalurua, reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to working together on these pressing issues.
The meeting was also an opportunity to recognize the contributions of outgoing New Zealand Senior Police Liaison Officer Glyn Rowland. Both officials emphasized the importance of advancing community policing efforts as part of their strategy. Naivalurua presented Fiji’s CVM–CMS framework, which focuses on critical areas such as community policing, maritime security, good governance, and inter-agency collaboration.
Furthermore, Naivalurua highlighted the significance of involving church leaders and local communities in the national campaign to raise awareness about drug-related problems. This enhanced collaboration is a crucial step toward addressing the complexities of drug-related issues and improving public safety in both nations. With a shared vision and determination, Fiji and New Zealand are optimistic about the meaningful impact their cooperation will bring in combating these social challenges, epitomizing a united front in addressing multifaceted issues.
