Fiji Airways has confirmed that it will continue to operate its two Airbus A350-900 aircraft following a recent deal for their acquisition. This agreement, announced this week, involves Riyadh-based lessor AviLease purchasing the aircraft from GOAL Aircraft Leasing.
The two A350-900 jets, with manufacturer serial numbers MSN 260 and MSN 251, were integrated into AviLease’s portfolio in late December 2025. They are currently on long-term lease to Fiji Airways, ensuring that there will be no disruption in service for the airline’s long-haul operations. Fiji Airways took delivery of these advanced aircraft in August 2023, deploying them on major trans-Pacific routes, including flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco. The airline is capitalizing on the A350-900’s modern fuel efficiency and extended range as part of its fleet modernization strategy.
Christian Schloemann, managing director of GOAL, reflected on the transaction, stating it highlights the effectiveness of the company’s investment strategy. This sale is expected to enhance liquidity for GOAL’s investors, with the proceeds slated for reinvestment in new aircraft opportunities. AviLease, fully owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, aims to create a premier leasing portfolio, emphasizing modern and fuel-efficient aircraft like the A350-900, which offers significant advantages over older models.
For passengers of Fiji Airways, the change in ownership is designed to be seamless, with no expected impacts on schedules, routes, or onboard services as the airline continues its operations under the established leasing terms. This transition marks a significant step for both Fiji Airways and AviLease, reflecting the positive trends in the aviation leasing market.
