Fandango Round Up Reaches $2.5M, Expands Film Philanthropy with Academy Museum Partnership

Fandango has successfully raised over $2.5 million from movie enthusiasts who opted to round their ticket purchases to the nearest dollar as part of its community-driven initiative. Launched in January 2025, this innovative feature, known as Round Up, has become a significant source of funding for various philanthropic programs.

Proceeds from the Round Up initiative have primarily supported the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), enabling funding for programs designed to enhance the moviegoing experience for Club members across the nation. In an exciting development, Fandango has also announced its new partnership with the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Funds gathered through this collaboration will aid the museum’s mission to promote, celebrate, and preserve the rich history of cinema.

This partnership will facilitate numerous initiatives, including exhibitions and family matinee film programs, alongside educational efforts like the Teen Council. The Teen Council is aimed at nurturing young artists and providing a platform for diverse communities to engage meaningfully with film, while also focusing on the preservation of the Academy Collection.

Will McIntosh, president of digital platforms and ventures at Versant, expressed pride in the impact that Fandango users have made, stating, “We’re incredibly proud that Fandango users have helped raise over $2.5 Million in the first year of our Round Up program for BGCA to help excite and inspire the next generation of moviegoers.” He emphasized the importance of accessibility to film, adding that the partnership with the Academy Museum is crucial for furthering film preservation and educational efforts.

Amy Homma, director and president of the Academy Museum, acknowledged Fandango’s vital support, asserting that it will significantly impact the museum’s mission and improve access for the global film community.

Looking ahead, after the seasonal partnership with the Academy Museum concludes in March 2026, Fandango’s Round Up feature will revert to benefitting the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The company has indicated plans to continue forming new philanthropic partnerships that align with its mission of enhancing accessibility, education, and community enrichment in the arts.

The Round Up feature is accessible via both Fandango’s website and mobile app, inviting more moviegoers to contribute to building a brighter future for the film community while enjoying their cinematic experiences.
