England started their ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026 journey with a solid 37-run victory over Pakistan in a Group C match held at the Takashinga Sports Club on Friday. The matchup showcased England’s disciplined bowling, which effectively defended a total of 210 runs.

When Pakistan began their chase of 211, they were swiftly put under pressure by the English bowlers and ultimately succumbed, being bowled out for just 173 runs in 46.3 overs. The Pakistan team struggled to build partnerships, losing their first two wickets early in the innings. Opener Sameer Minhas fell to Alex Green for 10 runs, with Green taking another wicket in the same over, dismissing Mohammad Shayan for just 7 runs.

The wickets continued to tumble, with Usman Khan being dismissed by James Minto, leaving Pakistan in a precarious position. Although Ahmed Hussain and captain Farhan Yousuf attempted to steady the ship, their efforts fell short. Hussain scored only 12 runs before being dismissed, while Huzaifa Ahsan managed 17, leaving Pakistan at a dismal 77 for 5.

Yousuf showed determination, anchoring the innings with a gritty performance that included a 48-run partnership with Abdul Subhan for the seventh wicket. He scored a vital 65 runs off 86 balls, notching up three fours and four sixes. Unfortunately, the lack of support from the lower order meant that England were able to close out the match comfortably.

Earlier in the match, England batted first and put up a total of 210 runs before being all out. Openers Ben Dawkins and Joseph Moores gave a steady start, but Pakistan capitalized on some early wickets, reducing England to 67 for 3. A crucial partnership between Caleb Falconer and Ralphie Albert helped revive the innings, with Falconer making a significant contribution of 66 runs from 73 balls. Although Pakistan took key wickets towards the end, England’s total proved to be sufficient.

For Pakistan, Ahmed Hussain was the standout performer with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 38 runs, while Ali Raza, Momin Qamar, and Abdul Subhan each grabbed two wickets.

This victory gives England an early advantage in their campaign, while Pakistan will be looking to rebound in their upcoming group matches. As the tournament progresses, both teams will be aiming to build on their performances and secure favorable positions for the knockouts.
