Zakaria Eddahchouri is set to return to action this weekend after serving a one-match suspension due to accumulated yellow cards. His comeback comes just in time as he prepares to face Albacete, the team against which he scored his eighth goal of the season over two months ago.
The Dutch forward is currently the second-highest scorer for Deportivo, trailing only Yeremay, who has netted nine goals. Eddahchouri last found the net on November 29, when he capped off a 0-2 victory for Deportivo at Carlos Belmonte. During that match, Eddahchouri began on the bench but made a significant impact after being substituted in the 83rd minute. Just six minutes later, he scored to secure the win.
At that time, he was the team’s top scorer, leading Yeremay by two goals, and had been enjoying a strong scoring streak. Just prior to facing Albacete, he had scored a brace in a 3-0 victory against Cultural Leonesa and had also shown his scoring prowess in the Copa del Rey with a goal against UD Sámano.
Eddahchouri’s last few appearances have been challenging, as he has gone through a dry spell of nine games without scoring, spanning seven La Liga matches and two Copa del Rey fixtures. His struggle to find the back of the net has seen him play significant minutes against teams like Sabadell and Atlético, but he has yet to add to his goal tally during this stretch.
Nonetheless, Eddahchouri’s record against Albacete is promising, as he scored twice in their previous encounter last season, which ended in a decisive 5-1 win for Deportivo. Coach Antonio Hidalgo will face a decision on whether to reinstate Eddahchouri to the starting lineup, or to continue with Mulattieri, who partnered with Stoichkov in the recent match against Cultural.
While Eddahchouri may be experiencing a challenging period in front of goal, his return to the pitch represents an opportunity for the talented forward to regain his scoring form and help lead his team to success.
