The holiday season is upon us, bringing with it the excitement of shopping and great deals. With Black Friday, one of the biggest shopping events of the year, fast approaching on November 28, 2025, bargain hunters are gearing up for an array of discounts.
Since its inception in 2005, Black Friday has gained a reputation as a prime day for scoring significant deals, particularly at major retailers like Walmart and Target. This year, shoppers can kick off their holiday shopping early, as both stores have started their sales in anticipation of the big day.
Target has launched an early Black Friday sale, running now through November 8, featuring discounts of up to 40% across various categories, including fashion, home goods, and electronics. Target’s main Black Friday event will commence online on November 27, and in stores on November 28, with substantial markdowns available throughout Cyber Week.
Walmart is also participating in the festivities, with its Black Friday deals available both in-store and online from November 14 to 16. Following this, a second wave of sales will take place from November 25 to 30, starting with an online-only event from November 25 to 27, followed by combined in-store and online deals from November 28 to 30. Additionally, Walmart will host an online-exclusive sale on Cyber Monday, December 1.
Beyond Walmart and Target, a wide array of retailers, including Best Buy, Kohl’s, and Ulta, are expected to offer their Black Friday promotions, contributing to a shopping atmosphere filled with opportunities for savings. However, some stores like REI have opted out of participating in the event, keeping to their own traditions.
As consumers prepare for the holiday season, the abundance of early deals sets a promising tone for an exciting shopping experience ahead.
