DUI Crackdown Nets 14 Arrests Across Namaka–Nadi and Suva Corridors

A 17-year-old student with a provisional license was among 14 drivers apprehended for driving under the influence during a police enforcement operation last night. The Police Traffic Enforcement Unit conducted a series of Random Breath Tests along the Namaka–Nadi corridor, where 320 drivers were tested, resulting in 11 arrests for drunk driving.

Simultaneously, another traffic team executed a similar operation in the Suva area, where 38 drivers were tested and three were arrested for drunk driving. The breakdown of the 14 arrests reveals that five were provisional license holders, three were public service vehicle drivers, and six held Group 2 licenses.

These operations underscore the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to enhance road safety and deter impaired driving, highlighting the importance of responsible alcohol consumption and adherence to driving regulations. The police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring safer roads for all drivers and pedestrians while encouraging the community to embrace responsible driving habits.
