Dubai is preparing for an unprecedented New Year celebration as it welcomes 2026 with an extravagant display of fireworks. Residents and visitors can look forward to experiencing 48 firework shows at 40 various locations across the emirate, including iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Atlantis The Royal, and Expo City Dubai.
In anticipation of the large crowds expected to attend, the Event Security Committee has announced its readiness to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Public transport will see significant enhancements, with the Dubai Metro and Tram services operating continuously for an impressive 43 hours. Additionally, thousands of taxis, buses, and limousines will be available to facilitate mobility. Notably, around 20,000 parking spaces will be accessible in the vicinity of the Burj Khalifa, along with extra parking at metro stations.
To accommodate the massive influx of people, road closures in Downtown Dubai and around Burj Khalifa will commence at 4:00 PM and will gradually extend until 11:00 PM, affecting key routes such as Sheikh Zayed Road.
Dubai Police are ramping up security measures by deploying nearly 10,000 officers, along with over 1,600 patrol vehicles, 53 marine boats, mounted patrol units, and bicycle patrols to safeguard both land and sea during the festivities. Special viewing areas featuring large screens have been set aside for workers who may not have access to other locations.
The public is encouraged to heed safety instructions, cooperate with officials, and adhere to traffic regulations. In case of emergencies, the designated number to call is 999, while non-emergency queries can be directed to 901.
To ensure public safety, Dubai Civil Defence has mobilized 1,750 firefighters along with over 150 specialized vehicles, including marine firefighting units. Additionally, Dubai Health Services has activated a comprehensive health plan, deploying 1,900 medical personnel and establishing a fully-equipped field hospital near the Burj Khalifa.
Public beaches will be reserved for families, and 14 public parks will remain open until 1:00 AM, providing various options for those looking to celebrate the New Year. Moreover, Dubai Ambulance Services will have 236 ambulance points throughout Dubai and Hatta, supported by air ambulance services and rapid response teams, including trained volunteers in high-density areas.
