SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson has expressed strong confidence in the importance of the club’s development team as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 season of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition. Jackson emphasized the pivotal role of the development squad, illustrating the club’s dedication to nurturing budding talent.

“Always massively important,” Jackson remarked when discussing the development team during a recent media day at the Drua’s base in Legalega, Nadi. He noted the club’s success in integrating development players into the senior roster, which highlights their commitment to cultivating young talent.

With a recent announcement of the squad, Jackson conveyed his optimism about the freshly promoted players stepping into their new roles. The club introduced a total of 12 players ready to take over positions vacated by former development players such as Isoa Tuwai and Aisea Nawai.

Jackson showed no hesitation in offering these young athletes opportunities in the Super Rugby platform. “I don’t have any concerns about bringing a young boy out into Super Rugby; some of these development players could easily play again for Super Rugby,” he stated, reinforcing his faith in their abilities.

The development players will play a crucial role in the team’s ambitions, all while being guided by coach Nemani Nadolo-Kuridrani, whose extensive experience in winning rugby is seen as an invaluable asset. Jackson commended Nadolo-Kuridrani for mentoring the young squad members, believing this guidance will significantly aid their development.

The twelve development players introduced by the club include Bogi Kikau, Breyton Legge, Harold Rounds, JD Sivivatu Kanth, Jeneiro Wakeham, Joshua Uluibau, Joweli Walevu, Kalioni Ratunabuabua, Maleli Nauvasi, Moses Armstrong-Ravula, Pita Manamanaivalu, and Sairusi Ravudi.

The Fijian Drua’s progressive approach to player development not only underscores their commitment to nurturing talent but also reflects a positive outlook for the upcoming season. As the franchise focuses on honing its young athletes, fans can look forward to thrilling performances and progression from both new and established players alike.
