The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has unveiled a 12-member Development Squad for the upcoming 2026 season, demonstrating a commitment to nurturing talent alongside retaining experienced players. This squad features four returning members from the last season and includes eight fresh talents who have showcased exceptional performance at the club level and in age-grade competitions.
The Development Player programme is a vital component of the Drua’s strategy, aimed at rapidly guiding emerging players into the rigors of professional rugby and preparing them for potential positions in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific. Development coach Nemani Nadolo-Kuridrani expressed his enthusiasm for the newly assembled squad, highlighting the blend of form and promise present in the team.
“Many of these players have been standout performers for their clubs, and several have represented Fiji Under-20. They’ve earned their place here, and combined with those who’ve been with us over the past few years, we have a really exciting group,” Nadolo-Kuridrani stated.
Returning to the squad are Breyton Legge from Naitasiri and Maleli Nauvasi of Nadi Under-20, along with Kalioni Ratunabuabua (Nadi) and Joweli Walevu, both recognized through local sevens competitions in 2025. New additions include Bogi Kikau, Harold Rounds, JD Sivivatu Kanth, Jeneriro Wakeham, Joshua Uluibau, Moses Armstrong Ravula, Pita Manamanaivalu, and Sairusi Ravudi. These players are poised to make a significant impact as they vie for higher honors in the 2026 season.
The Drua is set to kick off their season at home, facing Moana Pasifika in the opening round on the 14th of next month at 3:35 PM. The team is optimistic about this season as they strive to build on their foundation and develop the next generation of rugby talent in Fiji.
