Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson has recognized the daunting task ahead as he prepares to select the starting 15 for each match this season. The arrival of new signings, including Wallaby halfback Issak Fines-Leleiwasa and former Melbourne Rebels forward Angelo Smith, has significantly heightened competition for starting positions within the squad.

Jackson is optimistic about the strength of his team this season and has expressed his admiration for the talent within the development squad, emphasizing their potential to shape the future of the franchise. He stated, “We have a wide range of players to pick from and competition for all positions has been very tough, especially with our first game just around the corner. We also have a bunch of talented players in our development squad and I am excited to see what the future holds for them as well.”

The Drua are set to kick off their pre-season with a match against the Skipper XV, a team made up of players from last year’s Skipper Cup competition, on February 6th. Following that, they will take on Moana Pasifika in Lautoka on February 14th. The excitement surrounding the team’s preparations and the depth of talent in both the main and development squads suggests a promising season ahead for the Drua.
