The Fiji Meteorological Service (FMS), in collaboration with the Pacific Community (COSPPac), has successfully concluded a three-day workshop aimed at advancing disability-inclusive meteorological services. The event, held at Novotel Nadi, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), who contributed invaluable insights to make weather and climate information more accessible.
Participants engaged in collaborative discussions that included clarifying collective objectives, understanding the co-design process, and identifying necessary accommodations for persons with disabilities. They also worked together to establish an equitable structure for ongoing collaboration, ensuring that all voices contribute to the development of inclusive meteorological services.
This initiative marks a significant milestone for enhancing disability inclusion in Fiji’s climate and weather services.
