PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The long-awaited moment is almost here for food enthusiasts in Arizona, as Din Tai Fung, the renowned Taiwanese chain celebrated for its soup dumplings, has confirmed the opening date for its new location at Scottsdale Fashion Square.
The Scottsdale store is set to welcome diners on April 20. Reservations will be available beginning Thursday, February 26, at 9 a.m. through the restaurant’s website, generating excitement among local fans of the brand.
Din Tai Fung, recognized for its upscale-casual dining experience, specializes in traditional Chinese cuisine, particularly the Xiao Long Bao, or steamed soup dumplings. The Scottsdale restaurant will span an impressive 10,000 square feet and feature a dumpling expo kitchen, where guests can observe the dumpling-making process. With a seating capacity of 340 and a fully equipped bar, the new establishment promises to offer a vibrant dining atmosphere.
Positioned on the lower level of Scottsdale Fashion Square, Din Tai Fung will reside alongside popular eateries such as Catch and Élephante, making it a prime destination for culinary adventures.
Since its arrival in North America in 2000 with its first location in Arcadia, California, Din Tai Fung has gained significant popularity across the United States and beyond. The brand’s success can be attributed to its commitment to delivering high-quality dishes paired with exceptional service in a beautiful dining environment. According to Aaron Yang, North America CEO, Din Tai Fung aims to provide a comprehensive cultural experience, not just focus on their signature soup dumplings.
The meticulous preparation of their Xiao Long Bao involves a precise method, including a “Golden Ratio” of 18 folds. Yang elaborated on this technique, emphasizing that it ensures the filling and broth have ample space to expand during cooking, ultimately resulting in a perfect harmony of flavors and textures in every bite.
A second Din Tai Fung location is also in the works for Chandler Fashion Center, with plans for opening in 2027, further expanding the brand’s presence in Arizona.
As anticipation builds for the Scottsdale opening, Din Tai Fung is set to become a significant addition to Arizona’s dining scene. Whether you’re a longtime fan or trying it for the first time, the restaurant is expected to deliver an unforgettable culinary experience.
