Denarau to Welcome Fiji’s Inaugural Architecture Conference 2025

The Fiji Architects Association and the Construction Industry Council are joining forces to host the inaugural Fiji Architecture Conference and Trade Exhibition in 2025. Taking place at the Sheraton Fiji Resort and Spa in Denarau, the three-day event is set to officially kick off this evening with an opening ceremony, drawing together the nation’s architectural designers and engineers.

According to Adish Naidu, president of the Fiji Architects Association, the discussions will revolve around the current state of Fiji’s construction and architectural landscape, addressing key legislations affecting the industry. “One of the great things about the conference is the participation of cabinet ministers who will also be presenting,” Naidu stated, emphasizing the focus on vital issues like Fiji’s building codes and pressing housing challenges.

Participants can anticipate engaging sessions led by a diverse array of speakers. Notably, Professor Philip Cox AO from COX Architecture Australia will delve into the theme “Redefining Pacific Architecture in the Face of Climate Change.” On Friday, Dr. Soumen Maity and Robert Smith will present on “Blue Concrete: Limestone Calcined Clay Cements – Relevance to Fiji.”

The event has garnered heavy involvement from government officials, with presentations expected from Housing Minister Maciu Nalumisa, Minister for Infrastructure Ro Filipe Tuisawau, and Finance Minister Esrom Immanuel. Attendees can look forward to keynote addresses, panel discussions outlining emerging trends, sustainable practices, and innovative technologies that are shaping the built environment.

In addition to the conference’s informative sessions, trade shows featuring cutting-edge exhibits will showcase the latest products, services, and solutions from leading industry brands. This setup aims to create valuable networking opportunities, enabling participants to connect with fellow architects, designers, engineers, and professionals within the construction industry.

The conference not only serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration but also as an opportunity to inspire resilience and innovation in Fiji’s architectural and construction landscape. As the country aims for sustainable development, this event could potentially lead to impactful solutions that address the unique challenges facing Fiji’s built environment.
