Deadline Approaches as Lautoka Sugar Mill Races to Finish Fiji’s 2025 Sugar Season

Crushing operations at the Lautoka Sugar Mill for the 2025 season are set to wrap up on Friday. This decision comes from discussions led by the Sugar Industry Tribunal’s spokesperson, Semi Leweniqila, along with the Chief Executive of the Fiji Sugar Corporation.

Leweniqila has called upon growers and harvesting teams in the Western Division to prioritize the harvesting and transportation of any remaining cane to the Lautoka Mill before the deadline. The push for a timely delivery emphasizes the industry’s commitment to maximizing the season’s yield and supporting local farmers in their efforts. As the season comes to a close, the collaboration between growers and mill operators highlights the resilience of the sugar industry in Fiji.
