Darroch calls on Police to carry momentum into Sukuna Bowl showdown

Police assistant coach Paul Darroch has called on the remaining teams of the Police Force to pursue victory with the same intensity demonstrated by their men’s touch rugby side, which narrowly defeated the Army 9-8 in a thrilling finish at the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl competition in Nasova. Following this closely contested match, Darroch’s message was clear: the spirit of unity and determination fostered in their recent triumph must be carried over as the remaining Police squads prepare to take the field.

Stressing the importance of each win, Darroch said, “This is a challenge to all Police teams out there; if we can do it, especially coming from the bottom and taking the title back, we know you can do it too.” He emphasized that a collective performance marked by composure and hunger is crucial as they aim to uphold the pride of the organization throughout the three-day tournament.

The excitement of the Sukuna Bowl continues into its third day, showcasing boxing, netball, volleyball, and rugby league matches. Scheduled on Thursday and Friday at Subrail Park in Labasa, both men’s and women’s soccer as well as rugby matches will also be broadcast live on FBC Sports.

Previously, the Police women’s touch rugby team demonstrated resilience with a close 4-3 victory over their rivals from Delainabua, indicating a strong competitive spirit across all divisions. The touch rugby event has seen the Police compete vigorously, and Darroch’s call to action reinforces a culture that values hard work and determination throughout the tournament.

With more events lined up, including netball and volleyball, the anticipation is high for the Police teams to continue building on the momentum created by their successful performances thus far. The overarching sense of community and sportsmanship within the competition highlights the values that bind the teams together, promising an exhilarating finish to the Sukuna Bowl festivities.
