As we enter Week 11 of our Cyclone Tracker, we closely monitor the promising performances of rookie receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel from Iowa State, affectionately referred to as the “Cyclone twins.”
In their recent clash against the Titans, Jayden Higgins stood out with impressive statistics, exceeding his projected performance. Higgins was expected to receive three targets and record approximately 30.5 yards with one touchdown, predicting around 8.5 fantasy points. However, he received seven targets, resulting in four receptions for 55 yards and no touchdowns, earning him 9.5 fantasy points. Over the past two weeks, he has demonstrated considerable growth, accumulating 14 targets and achieving 97 receiving yards along with a touchdown.
Higgins has solidified his role in Houston’s offensive scheme, particularly as a reliable option in crucial moments. His notable 23-yard reception in the third quarter highlights his ability to perform under pressure, suggesting that as long as he remains a consistent target in the Texans’ game plan, his contributions will be vital. The team has notably thrived with him on the field; they boast a 4-0 record in games where he hauls in four or more catches.
For Week 12, Higgins is projected to see about six targets, potentially catching 4.5 passes for approximately 45.5 yards and one touchdown, resulting in around 10.5 fantasy points.
On the other hand, Jaylin Noel’s season has been a bit more tumultuous. Projected to have four targets and around 23.5 receiving yards with a slight chance for a touchdown, Noel managed to receive just one target resulting in 12 yards against the Titans. However, his prowess as a return specialist shone through, as he successfully returned seven kicks for a total of 89 yards. With his total stats for the season amounting to 25 targets and 19 receptions for 209 yards, along with a significant contribution in return yards, it remains uncertain how his role will evolve moving forward.
Currently, Noel’s production seems unpredictable, especially as he has not been consistently utilized in key offensive situations. However, the Texans’ continued success could help alleviate frustrations regarding his lower impact on the receiving front. In the upcoming week, he is projected for four targets and three receptions, anticipating about 23.5 receiving yards with minimal touchdown expectations.
As fantasy owners and fans keep a close watch on their performances, the resilience of these young receivers may ultimately play a significant role in the Texans’ playoff aspirations. The optimistically growing connection between Higgins and the Texans’ offense, combined with Noel’s potential in the return game, suggests their contributions will be key as the season progresses.
