The Coupe de France is set to reintroduce Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology starting from the quarter-finals, with the opening match between Strasbourg and Reims scheduled for Tuesday at 21:00. The French Football Federation has confirmed that VAR will be available for every matchup throughout the tournament, culminating with the clash between Lyon and Lens on Thursday at 21:10.
Currently, seven clubs from Ligue 1 remain in contention as they progress through this knockout stage. While VAR is being implemented for the quarter-finals, goal-line technology will not be available until the semi-finals and final, depending on the chosen venues.
In a significant move aimed at enhancing transparency, referees will be equipped with microphones during the last four matches. This means they will announce the outcome of any major decisions made following a VAR review to both the spectators in the stadium and television audiences.
