Remedy Entertainment has unveiled the highly anticipated sequel to its acclaimed game, Control, which is titled Control Resonant. This new title, expected to release in 2026, expands on the original’s foundation by introducing an action-RPG framework. The story is set seven years after the events of Control, transitioning from the eerie environment of the Oldest House to a more expansive Manhattan. Players will assume the role of Dylan Faden, the brother of the original game’s protagonist, Jesse Faden.

The plot revolves around Dylan, who has spent years in confinement by the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC). As the FBC faces a supernatural crisis, Dylan is released to confront a mysterious cosmic entity that threatens to alter reality itself. To combat this looming threat, he must learn to wield his newly acquired powers while also searching for his sister, Jesse, who is now the FBC Director. Together, they face the challenges of a world that has been thrown into chaos, extending beyond the walls of the Oldest House.

Creative director Mikael Kasurinen emphasized that Resonant is “not a safe sequel,” suggesting that players can enjoy the games in any order. This approach reflects Remedy’s commitment to innovation. One of the standout features of the game is a shapeshifting melee weapon, though details on the enemies players will encounter remain under wraps. Notably, the term “hiss,” which referred to adversaries in the original game, has not been mentioned in the announcement, hinting at new challenges ahead.

While not labeled as an open-world game, Resonant is touted as the studio’s most ambitious project to date. “We’re pushing the scale beyond anything we’ve done before, elevating combat, exploration, and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience,” Kasurinen remarked. This dedication to expansion and creativity signals a promising future for Remedy as it gears up for the launch of Resonant on PS5, Xbox, PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), and Mac (via Steam and the App Store). The game’s success could play a vital role in revitalizing the studio’s fortunes in the coming year, leaving fans excited about the journey ahead.
