The Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches has kicked off, bringing with it an exciting atmosphere for golf fans and families alike. The Pro-Am continues today, and the buzz is palpable as attendees look forward to the many unique experiences this year’s tournament offers.
One of the standout features is the introduction of the Nicklaus Children’s Health System Kids Zone, located near the number ten tee box. This family-oriented area aims to create a memorable experience for young attendees, providing free admission for children aged 15 and younger, with two kids allowed per ticketed adult. The Kids Zone boasts an array of attractions, including an air-conditioned lounge, a putting green, gaming options, various forms of entertainment, and excellent views of the golf course.
Todd Fleming, the tournament’s executive director, emphasized the importance of making the event more accessible and enjoyable for families. He expressed excitement about the new additions, stating, “We’re thinking of you and we have something that’s going to be very valuable for your child when they’re out here. So that way, come on out, support the event, watch some golf and know that they’re going to have fun things to do.”
This Saturday is particularly special, designated as Family Day, where the first 1,500 kids to arrive will receive a jumbo golf ball to take home, allowing them to collect autographs from players throughout the tournament.
The enhancements to the spectator experience also include new public grandstands on the eighth and ninth greens, offering better visibility of the action, alongside an open tee box at hole 17 designed to draw fans closer to the game.
First-time attendee Stacy Iasimone shared her enthusiasm: “I’ve never been to a tournament before. This is my first one. I think this is wonderful.” The tournament offers a fantastic opportunity for everyone, with activities designed to entertain both young fans and seasoned golf enthusiasts.
With the vibrant atmosphere and family-friendly options, the Cognizant Classic is set to be a highlight of the local sports calendar, showcasing golf in an accessible and enjoyable manner for all.
