Cody Rhodes recently shared a humorous anecdote from his early days in WWE during an appearance on the “Six Feet Under” podcast with wrestling legends The Undertaker and Michelle McCool. Reflecting on his relationship with former WWE superstar Layla El, Rhodes recounted how he often found himself in possession of half of the WWE Women’s Championship title whenever Layla would forget to bring it.

Rhodes explained that he frequently carried the championship belt to events because it was regularly misplaced. He remarked, “Because at the time I was dating Layla. But speaking of titles, so you guys saw the belt in half, correct? I often brought the belt to TV because someone would forget the belt. I would have it in my bag.” He elaborated on the challenges of traveling with the hefty piece of memorabilia, noting that it drew extra attention at airport security checkpoints.

To break the ice with TSA agents, Rhodes humorously claimed he started telling them he was a collector of championship belts to defuse inquiries. “It’s a whole conversation,” he said, describing how he would explain the belt’s significance. “And then when they take it out and it’s the Women’s World Championships, well, they split it because there’s two of them. Well, what are you doing with it? I don’t know. And you get to the point where you’re like, ‘I collect these. I collect these, right?’”

Rhodes’ light-hearted story adds a personal touch to the often-glamorous world of professional wrestling, showcasing both the quirks of backstage life and his fond memories of a past relationship.
