The Detroit Free Press is inviting readers to cast their votes for the coveted Buffalo Wild Wings Girls Prep Athlete of the Week. This week’s lineup features five exceptional athletes, showcasing remarkable performances from November 2-8, consisting of four volleyball players and one standout swimmer.

Voting will be open until noon on Friday, November 14, allowing fans to support their favorite contenders. The nominees, listed in alphabetical order by last name, are:

Gabby DiVita from Grosse Pointe South has been a force on the volleyball court this past week, leading the Blue Devils to victories over Grosse Pointe North and Detroit Renaissance to secure a spot in the regional semifinals. DiVita, a Miss Volleyball candidate, recorded a staggering 63 kills with an impressive average of nine kills per set and a hitting percentage of .426 in both matches. Defensively, she contributed significantly with 27 digs and four blocks.

Brenna Mirovsky of Oxford played a pivotal role in her team’s success as they clinched their first district title since 2002. The junior outside hitter contributed crucial stats with a total of 22 kills, 35 digs, three blocks, and seven serving assists, helping her team win all five sets in back-to-back victories against Lake Orion and Clarkston.

Kayla Nwabueze from Bloomfield Hills also made headlines by leading her team to the regional semifinals after a significant win over Bloomfield Hills Marian. This senior hitter, another Miss Volleyball nominee, recorded a remarkable 35 kills, 13 digs, and three aces in the 3-1 victory against Marian, and followed this performance with 30 kills, 21 digs, and two blocks in the following match.

Ashlyn Taylor of Gibraltar Carlson shone brightly in the swimming pool during the Downriver League Championship. The senior swimmer won two individual races over the two-day event, helping Carlson secure the league title. She achieved personal bests with times of 1:02.21 in the 100-yard backstroke and 2:18.79 in the 200-yard individual medley.

Finally, Eleanor Williams from Romeo played a significant role in her team’s unexpected success in the 2025 volleyball tournament, helping to upset No. 7 Utica Eisenhower with a thrilling 3-2 victory. Over two matches, the junior right-side hitter amassed a total of 35 kills, 21 digs, four blocks, and five aces, leading her unranked team to a sensational performance.
