CART Max Fiji Pte Ltd, operating as Cart Max Pet Shop, successfully launched its first vaccine and pet health outreach program at Shirley Park in Lautoka this past Saturday. The Namaka-based clinic, which opened its doors in December, has taken the initiative to expand its services to the Sugar City to better accommodate pet owners who struggle with transportation issues.
Veterinarian Dr. Dakshil Kumar emphasized the importance of reaching pet parents in the Nadi-Lautoka corridor, explaining that the idea for the outreach arose from the challenges many faced in bringing their pets to Nadi for veterinary care. “We initially opened our clinic in the first week of December, and while operating, we realized we needed to extend our services, especially to those in the Lautoka-Nadi corridor,” Dr. Kumar stated. The event drew a significant crowd and Dr. Kumar expressed optimism about being able to serve all attendees promptly.
The outreach featured two distinct stations that offered a range of veterinary and retail services. One station focused on the pet shop, where customers could find collars, food, and preventative treatments for fleas and ticks, while the other was dedicated to veterinary services, providing free consultations and a vaccination drive.
Although the clinic currently offers de-sexing services at its Nadi location, plans are in the works to introduce these procedures in the community through future mobile outreach events. “We do de-sexing and we also have plans in the future to have a de-sexing outreach,” Dr. Kumar confirmed.
This valuable initiative not only addresses the immediate health needs of pets but also fosters community engagement and support among pet owners in the region. The proactive steps taken by Cart Max Pet Shop serve as a commendable example of enhancing pet care accessibility.
