In addition to critical clips of Erika, the trailer also contains references to “Zionists” and Israel, which have further fueled public outrage. The series culminates with an image of Erika wearing a crown, suggesting a provocative narrative towards her leadership and status.
Erika is expected to appear as a guest of President Trump at the upcoming State of the Union, yet her experience continues to be overshadowed by the backlash against Owens’ new project. The reactions have been visceral, with media commentator Meghan McCain expressing her disgust on social media, stating that subjecting a woman whose husband was murdered to such scrutiny is “pure, unadulterated, f–king evil.” Ben Shapiro, founder of The Daily Wire, also condemned Owens in a video, questioning what Charlie would think of those who remain silent about these attacks.
Faced with the backlash, a spokesperson for Owens claimed that there is no significant outcry against the series, arguing that reactions stem from a “Zionist bubble” lacking influence. They insisted that viewers were looking forward to the premiere and that the series would reveal findings about Mrs. Kirk.
This controversy emerges alongside ongoing legal issues for Tyler Robinson, who is accused of killing Charlie Kirk and is currently facing the death penalty. Robinson’s attempts to disqualify the prosecution due to personal ties of a prosecutor to the incident were dismissed by a judge.
