Burrow Takes Step Toward Return as Bengals Run 11-on-11 Drills

Joe Burrow is making strides in his recovery as he participated in 11-on-11 drills during the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice on Wednesday. This marks the first time he has engaged in such activities since being placed on injured reserve due to a toe injury that sidelined him since Week 2. The practice session was particularly beneficial for Burrow, as teammate Joe Flacco was not participating due to his own shoulder injury.

Head coach Zac Taylor noted the opportunity to focus on Burrow’s development without having to split practice responsibilities with Flacco. “You can certainly get a lot of work in with Joe Burrow today, because Flacco’s not practicing,” Taylor said. The plan has been for Burrow to engage in 11-on-11 drills, and this practice facilitated that goal.

Flacco, while expected to resume throwing on Thursday, has missed time and is continuing to recover from his injury. Burrow previously indicated that he is aiming for a return to the field by Thanksgiving. Taylor mentioned that the team will assess Burrow’s performance during the full team drills before making any decisions about his reintegration into game action.

As Burrow continues to progress in his rehabilitation, the Bengals remain optimistic about his potential return, which could energize the team as they approach an important part of the season. Burrow’s comeback is being closely watched by both fans and teammates, underlining the significance of his role on the team.
