Fiji’s inaugural professional football club, Bula FC, is set to make history by participating in the first game of the OFC Pro League against Vanuatu United FC on January 17th. This match marks a significant milestone for Fijian football as the country embarks on a new chapter in its sporting journey.

Stéphane Auvray, the team’s coach and also a member of the national coaching staff, expressed his ambition to elevate Fijian football during his tenure. “As a coach, I want to be remembered for taking Fijian football to a better place,” he stated, highlighting his commitment to the development of the sport in the region.

The club is also bolstered by the presence of Roy Krishna, Fiji’s all-time leading goal scorer and most capped player, who has returned to his homeland for the upcoming league. His experience and leadership are invaluable to the team, with Auvray noting, “He has a lot of experience, and the players look up to him. If the players have questions, they reach out to him. He’s a very good player.”

With Bula FC’s participation in the OFC Pro League, there is a sense of optimism surrounding the future of football in Fiji. The club aims to inspire a new generation of players and contribute positively to the growth of the sport in the Pacific region.
