The Toronto Blue Jays have made a significant addition to their bullpen by signing right-handed reliever Tyler Rogers to a three-year contract valued at $37 million, according to several reports. This deal includes a vesting option for a fourth year, as shared by ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

The 34-year-old Rogers had an impressive season last year, playing for both the San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets. He ended the season with a remarkable 1.98 earned-run average, showcasing his effectiveness in a league-leading 81 appearances. Over the course of 77.1 innings pitched, he struck out 48 batters, demonstrating his ability to keep opponents at bay.

Rogers is particularly noted for his unique submarine delivery, where his throwing arm approaches the ground, allowing him to deliver the ball at an unusual angle. His fastball averages a velocity of just over 83 miles per hour, but he effectively complements it with a combination of sinkers and sliders, which keeps hitters on their toes. Last season, his hard-hit rate was an impressive 33.1%, placing him in the top 95th percentile of pitchers according to StatCast.

Over the span of his seven-year Major League career, Rogers has maintained a commendable ERA of 2.76 and has recorded 306 strikeouts across 424.0 innings pitched. His addition to the Blue Jays is poised to bolster their bullpen, adding depth and reliability as they look to enhance their competitive edge in the upcoming season.
