The New Terminal One at JFK International Airport has teamed up with iProov, a leader in biometric identity solutions, to enhance the passenger experience through a new initiative called Enhanced Passenger Processing (EPP). Announced on February 11, 2026, this initiative is designed to streamline the international arrivals process, paving the way for innovative biometric technologies to revolutionize identity verification for travelers.

The EPP system will be integrated into the arrivals process for U.S. citizens, significantly improving efficiency in identity verification. Utilizing advanced biometric technology, the system allows for real-time identity confirmation, which enables eligible travelers to navigate through inspections more swiftly while upholding stringent security standards.

Travelers can rest assured that participation in EPP will be straightforward; no prior enrollment or fees are required. Additionally, those who prefer the traditional inspection process through U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will have the option to opt out without any penalty.

The implementation of EPP falls under a larger $19 billion initiative by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey aimed at transforming JFK Airport into a premier international gateway. This ambitious redevelopment plan includes constructing two new terminals, modernizing and expanding existing ones, building a new ground transportation center, and creating a simplified roadway network.

Marisa Von Wieding, Vice President of Operations at The New Terminal One, emphasized the importance of technology and innovation in enhancing the travel experience, stating that this step represents a commitment to delivering seamless and secure journeys for guests. She noted the vital role that collaboration with CBP has played in making the deployment of this advanced capability a reality, setting new standards for efficiency in international travel.

Francis J. Russo, Director of Field Operations at CBP’s New York Field Office, echoed this sentiment, highlighting that Enhanced Passenger Processing signifies CBP’s ongoing commitment to innovation. It improves the traveler experience while also enhancing border security. The technology will help CBP officers verify identities more efficiently, reducing wait times and allowing for better allocation of resources, thus enabling officers to focus more on higher-risk travelers and ensuring a secure and orderly arrival process at one of the nation’s busiest airports.

This initiative is poised to enhance the travel experience significantly, fostering greater efficiency and security as the New Terminal One prepares to welcome international passengers.
