Billie Eilish has recently criticized Elon Musk for his enormous wealth, calling him “pathetic” in an expletive-filled outburst on social media. The 23-year-old singer expressed her frustrations through Instagram Stories, where she shared ideas on how Musk, who is valued at over $500 billion, could utilize his fortune to address major global issues including world hunger and the protection of endangered species.

The singer highlighted a post from the organization My Voice My Choice, which proposed that Musk could end world hunger by donating $40 billion a year or help preserve more than 10,000 critically endangered species with annual donations ranging from $1 to $2 billion. Additionally, the organization estimated that Musk could assist in the reconstruction of Gaza for $53.2 billion.

Eilish’s remarks come on the heels of her previous criticisms of wealthy individuals, including a notable moment in October when she challenged Mark Zuckerberg during her acceptance speech at the WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards. During that event, she questioned the morality of billionaires hoarding their wealth while people in need struggle. She urged those with substantial financial resources to consider giving back, stating, “If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? … Give your money away, shorties.”

Her comments resonated with the audience, eliciting laughter and applause, although Zuckerberg reportedly did not share the sentiment. Eilish, who practices what she preaches, recently committed $11.5 million from her “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour proceeds to support organizations focused on food equity, climate justice, and addressing climate change.

Through her bold statements and philanthropic efforts, Eilish is shining a light on the responsibilities of the wealthy in today’s challenging times, encouraging empathy and generosity. By addressing the disparity between wealth and need, she showcases how influential figures can make a meaningful impact on society.
