A new mixed martial arts (MMA) film is set to make its debut on the big screen. Lionsgate has unveiled the official teaser trailer for “Beast,” a sports action-drama starring Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe and Daniel MacPherson. The film is slated for release in theaters on April 10, 2026, and aims to combine gritty cage action with a compelling redemption narrative, much like other films in the MMA genre.

The official synopsis reveals the film’s premise: “After years away from the cage, a once-feared MMA champion (MacPherson) is pulled back in for the fight of his life when his younger brother is put in danger. Reuniting with the trainer (Crowe) who once made him a legend, he commits to one final showdown against the reigning title-holder — a brutal fighter determined to dismantle the ex-champ’s legacy in front of the world. Pushed to his breaking point, the contender’s stakes are simple: win, or lose everything he’s built.”

In “Beast,” Crowe takes on the role of a battle-hardened coach aiming to resurrect a broken fighter, while MacPherson plays the aspiring athlete striving for one last chance at glory. The teaser gives a glimpse of intense training montages, emotionally charged confrontations, and high-quality fight sequences set within a ONE Championship cage.

Directed by Tyler Atkins, known for his previous work on “Ocean Boy” (2022), the film features a screenplay co-written by Crowe and David Frigerio. The cast also includes notable names such as Luke Hemsworth, Bren Foster, Amy Shark, Mojean Aria, and Kelly Gale. Production credits go to John Schwarz, Frigerio, Michael Schwarz, and Tim O’Hair.

What sets “Beast” apart is its collaboration with ONE Championship, ensuring an authentic big-fight atmosphere with a key scene filmed live in Bangkok, Thailand, during ONE 170 in January 2025. This connection to the real world of MMA aims to enhance the film’s credibility and appeal to fans of the sport. As anticipation builds for the film’s release, it promises to deliver both heart-pounding action and a gripping story of redemption in the world of mixed martial arts.
