Baylor Baseball Star Max Muncy Eyes Historic World Series Milestone

Baylor University’s baseball team is making headlines as they secure representation in the World Series for the fifth time in six years. This season marks a historic moment for Baylor as alumnus Max Muncy, a celebrated figure in Baylor Athletics and already a World Series veteran, makes his fourth appearance in the Fall Classic with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Muncy’s four World Series appearances are the most by any former Baylor player, surpassing the notable record held by Dave Danforth.

The Dodgers announced Muncy’s inclusion in their 26-man World Series roster just ahead of Game 1, scheduled to take place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, at 7 p.m. CT. Muncy joins an elite group of eight former Bears who have collectively appeared in the World Series a remarkable 16 times.

Max Muncy, originally from Keller, Texas, had a standout college career at Baylor from 2010 to 2012. He was recognized as a Freshman All-American and earned All-Big 12 First Team honors twice. Muncy made an immediate impact in his freshman year, achieving a .300 batting average with 11 home runs and 53 RBIs, setting the stage for a successful tenure that included leading the Bears to a Big 12 championship in 2012.

Drafted by the Oakland A’s in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB Draft, Muncy’s career trajectory took him through the A’s organization before he found his footing with the Dodgers. His tenure in Los Angeles has been distinguished, featuring two All-Star selections and a notable participation in the Home Run Derby in 2018. Muncy is remembered for his clutch performance, including a walk-off home run in his first World Series appearance, showcasing the talent that has become synonymous with Baylor baseball.

With an established postseason record, including a franchise record for the Dodgers in career postseason home runs and impressive performance statistics, Muncy looks to add to his accolades in the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays. This series presents an opportunity for him to become the first three-time World Series winner in Baylor history.

As Baylor continues to make its mark on the national baseball scene, Muncy’s journey is a testament to the program’s success and its ability to produce talent that competes at the highest level. Every game of the series will air on FOX, offering fans a chance to support Muncy and witness history in the making as he aims for a victory to add to his impressive legacy.
